Channel on Jalan Manggis II Being Normalized

The Grogol Petamburan Sub-district Water Resources Implementing Unit (SDA), West Jakarta, is normalizing the water channel on Jalan Manggis II, RT 06/06, Tanjung Duren Utara Urban Village.

We target completion in about two weeks

Grogol Petamburan SDA Executing Unit Field Coordinator, Amin Sali, stated the normalization was undertaken, as the existing channel structure was deteriorating, raising concerns that the retaining walls might collapse.

"The process involves dismantling the old channel and its covers, followed by dredging the mud. Afterward, the entire retaining wall and channel covers are reconstructed and refurbished," he expressed, Tuesday (12/16).

Governor: Normalization Policy for River Should Be Immediately Socialized

He explained that the normalization covers a 200-meter stretch of the channel, measuring 40 centimeters in width and 80 centimeters in depth. The project involves eight personnel who have been working since last month.

"We target completion in about two weeks. The process is taking slightly longer because the work is being done manually without using precast U-ditches," he clarified.

He hoped the channel normalization would be completed on schedule so that the drainage system can function optimally during rainfall.

"Current work progress has reached approximately 75 percent," he revealed.

RT 06/06 Chair, Tanjung Duren Utara Urban Village, Hendra Priyatna, commended the performance of the Grogol Petamburan SDA Unit team.

"The normalization process runs fast and neat. Hopefully, with improved channel conditions and a sturdier structure, this area will no longer experience inundation during rain," he concluded.
