West Jakarta Mayor Iin Mutmainnah stated that no fireworks or firecrackers will be used at either location. This decision was made as an expression of empathy for those affected by recent disasters in Sumatra.
"The celebration at the Mayor’s Office will be more serene and not a large-scale party. We're also encouraging residents to donate through the Baznas QRIS to support disaster victims," she mentioned on Tuesday (12/30).
To ensure the celebration remains meaningful and brings blessings for the new year, her team has coordinated with interfaith leaders to hold joint prayers leading up to midnight.
"We will begin and end the event with prayers to reflect on everything that has happened over the past year," she added.
With this simpler and more reflective concept, Iin hopes residents will welcome 2026 with renewed positivity and a stronger sense of compassion.
"We're preparing to enter 2026 with greater spirit, starting with reflection and prayer," she shared.
She advised the public to remain vigilant both on their way to and during the event.
"We've coordinated all safety and security measures. Most importantly, we want everyone to enjoy the celebration in a safe and responsible manner," she emphasized.
