Jakarta Offers Free Rides on Public Transport for New Year's Celebration

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung announced that all public transportation managed by the Jakarta Provincial Government will offer free rides (Rp1 fare) for two days, from December 31 until January 1 at 11:59 PM, to provide greater comfort for residents.

"...free rides on transportation managed by the Jakarta Government on December 31 and January 1,"

According to him, the free fare period was extended until January 1 due to traffic arrangements and the ongoing crowds following the peak of New Year's Eve festivities.

"After internal discussions, we finally decided to offer free rides on transportation managed by the Jakarta Government on December 31 and January 1," stated Pramono at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (12/31).

To ensure the New Year's Eve celebration runs solemnly, safely, and comfortably, the Jakarta Provincial Government has deployed thousands of cross-agency personnel to oversee crowded areas.

These include 3,395 personnel from the Environment (LH) Agency for cleaning, 2,191 personnel from the Transportation Agency to manage traffic, and 1,692 Satpol PP officers.

Pramono also encouraged the public attending the New Year's Eve celebrations in Jakarta to use public transportation. Not only does it help ease traffic congestion, but it is also free of charge.

"The government has arranged parking areas, but with free public transport available, we encourage everyone to use the services managed by the Jakarta Government," Pramono shared.
