Jakpro Praises Strong Turnout as Crowds Flock to Jakarta Planetarium

Thousands have flocked to the newly reopened Planetarium Star Theater at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), prompting city-owned developer Jakpro to issue a statement of gratitude for the public’s 'tremendous enthusiasm.

The facility, which was officially inaugurated by the Governor on December 23, 2025, has become the centerpiece of Jakarta’s educational tourism during the 2025–2026 holiday season. The buzz surrounding the theater is palpable, with tickets for the celestial shows selling out almost instantly, whether booked via digital platforms or purchased at the gate.

Jakpro, the management behind the Planetarium Star Theater, confirmed that tickets are distributed using a split-quota model to accommodate various types of buyers. Per instructions from the Jakarta Governor, each screening’s capacity is divided equally: 50% for digital bookings through Loket.com and 50% for walk-in visitors. The strategy is designed to provide fair access, catering to both tech-savvy users and those purchasing in person.

Taman Ismail Marzuki SBU Head at Jakpro, Anya A Christiana, explained ticketing protocols are being tightly managed according to fixed capacity limits for every show, ensuring that no spectators are admitted beyond the established ticket count.

"The surge in public interest underscores the fact that science-driven educational attractions still hold significant allure for Jakartans," she explained, Monday (1/5).

She expressed pride in the Planetarium's comeback as a public favorite, highlighting its importance as an astronomical literacy tool for the next generation.

"We take immense pride in the Planetarium’s renewed popularity. Jakpro is committed to continuous improvements in service and infrastructure to provide a safe, comfortable, and impactful space-learning experience for all," she continued.

To accommodate the holiday influx, ahe added, Jakpro deployed a series of preemptive steps, such as streamlining its digital booking platform to mitigate congestion and adding extra screenings through the night.

"We've also prioritized heightened sanitation in public spaces and the deployment of additional personnel to guarantee a smooth and efficient experience for all guests," she added.
