1,135 Trees Planted in East Jakarta Last Year

The planting was carried out as part of a reforestation program as well as an effort to reduce air pollution caused by motor vehicle emissions.

Head of East Jakarta City Parks and Forestry Sub-agency, Dwi Ponangsera, said thousands of trees were planted in 10 districts, especially on empty land that could be planted with trees.

According to him, planting locations include the edges of main roads, neighborhood roads, green belts, parks, RPTRAs, reservoir or pond areas, and public cemeteries.

"We planted all these trees to support the greening program and improve air quality," he said, Monday (1/5).

Those planted trees are Yellow Tabebuia, Pink Tabebuia, Mahogany, Rain Tree, Walnut, Duku, Mango, Rambutan, and several other types of trees.

Meanwhile, Head Section of Greenbelt and Cemetery of the sub-agency, Made Widhi Adnyana Surya Pratita explained the planting of 1,135 trees were spread in Ciracas District by 82 trees and Cipayung by 488 trees.

Next are Cakung by 296 trees, Duren Sawit by 50 trees, Kramat Jati 28 trees, Makasar 45 trees, Matraman 12 trees, Pasar Rebo 25 trees, and Pulo Gadung 26 trees.

The ornamental plant planting area is spread across nine districts. Specifically, Cipayung by 74,898 plants, Cakung by 21,172 plants, and Duren Sawit by 12,350 plants.

"Kramat Jati by 11,700 plants, Jatinegara 30,300 plants, Makasar 100 plants, Matraman 26,339 plants, Pasar Rebo 11,035 plants, and Pulo Gadung 101,718 plants," he explained.
