The North Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-agency restored 6,139 public streetlights across six sub-districts in 2025.

We processed 1,560 reports via JAKI mobile app

Official data released this week shows the agency met its maintenance targets to ensure consistent illumination throughout the administrative area.

City Utilities Infrastructure and Facilities and Public Streetlighting Section Head, Untung Pitoyo said, streetlight maintenance is a core component of the agency's efforts to boost public safety and convenience.

"The majority of our work is driven by direct community feedback, with 4,434 repairs initiated following resident reports. Besides direct complaints, we processed 1,560 reports via JAKI mobile app, while five others originated from mass media and social media monitoring," he expressed, Tuesday (1/6).

To ensure optimal functionality, the maintenance program integrates technical overhauls of electrical networks and supporting infrastructure.

The sub-agency’s expansion plans are equally collaborative, with 140 new lighting requests currently on the books. These proposals reflect a multi-tiered approach to urban needs, comprising 12 direct resident petitions, 10 legislative recommendations from council members' community recess, and 118 directives from executive leadership.

"We reported a significant milestone in urban infrastructure, installing 1,318 new streetlighting points in 2025—exceeding its annual target of 1,000 by over 31 percent," he explained.

The maintained units range from 40 to 200 watts and are strategically placed along major thoroughfares, arterial roads, and residential neighborhoods.

"Buoyed by last year's performance, the department has set a higher bar for this year, with a roadmap to install 1,050 additional lighting points," he continued.

Ia berharap penerangan jalan yang semakin baik dapat mendukung aktivitas warga dan meningkatkan rasa aman di wilayah Jakarta Utara.

Residents are encouraged to report non-functional streetlights directly to the Streetlighting Command Post at the North Jakarta Mayor’s Office or via the dedicated hotline at 021-4308871.

"We're committed to ensuring every corner of North Jakarta is well-lit. Resident's participation in reporting outages is vital to helping us maintain service excellence across the district," he added.

The action above received appreciation from RT 19/01 Chairman, Sunter Jaya Urban Village, Hartono.

"Reliable streetlighting ensures that our communities feel secure and comfortable. We aim to keep improving these essential services, prioritizing residential hubs and local access roads to better serve the public," he noted in his concluding remarks.
