A Luxury House in Cakung Burnt

A two-story luxury house located in the Taman Modern Indah Complex, Block B4, No.15, Ujung Menteng Urban Village, Cakung, East Jakarta, burned down, Monday (7/13). Allegedly, it is triggered by electricity short-circuit from a cell phone's charger.

The flames that broke out at 12.30 PM did not cause casualty in the incident. And the material loss is reaching hundreds of millions rupiah.

Sonya, (40), one of eyewitness told that fire came out on the ground floor and quickly spread to the house's roof. The locals were trying to extinguish it with available tools, but they failed.

Not long after, around 12 fire trucks of East Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-department arrived and managed to control the situation.

“I saw the flames on the house's roof continues to grow. The owner looks hysterical and just resigned," he expressed.

The house owner named Sunarto (57) was shocked. Prior to the incident, he and his wife were watching tv in the living room.

“We managed to control the flames within 45 minutes,” told Operational Section Head of East Jakarta Disaster Management and Rescue, Moelyanto.
