West Jakarta Mayor's Connecting Channel Being Dredged

The Blue taskforce personnel of West Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency keep dredging water channel to prevent inundation. One of the channels being dredged is the connecting water channel in the West Jakarta Mayor Office.

optimize the channel's capacity

Head Section of Maintenance for West Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency, Yopi Siregar said dredging is carried out because the water channel is becoming shallow due to sedimentation of mud and rubbish.

"We want to optimize the channel's capacity and ensure that water can flow smoothly," he said, Wednesday (1/7).

Yopi explained that water flow is also hampered by drains clogged with trash, making it difficult for water to enter the connecting channel.

"We have been manually dredging and cleaning the water channel since January 3, 2025, including in areas under the bridge that cannot be reached by heavy equipment," he explained.

According to him, the sub-agency deploys 15 personnel supported by long arm heavy equipment, small amphibious excavators, and 13 dump trucks.

"The dredging is targeted for completion this month," he added.
