Japan Scholarship Program Spurs Achievement Among Jakarta Students

Jakarta City Council Commission E Chairman, M Subki has expressed full support for the three-year scholarship program at Hiroshima Global Academy (HiGA), Japan, awarded to high-achieving students from Jakarta.

It is a very compelling program

This scholarship, a collaborative CSR effort between PT Bank Jakarta and Perumda PAM JAYA, focuses on preparing Jakarta’s youth for the global stage. It is seen as a vital investment for the city's future.

"It is a very compelling program, and we certainly support it," he expressed, Thursday (1/22).

Master's Degree Scholarship Program Continues to Be Developed

Subki believes the scholarship acts as a catalyst for Jakarta’s youth to excel and unlock their full potential, opening doors for them to pursue education in Japan.

Commission E is now urging other regional government-owned enterprises (BUMDs) to follow suit and invest in similar programs to sharpen the city's talent pool.

"PAM JAYA has set a great example. We hope other BUMDs will step up by allocating a portion of their CSR funds to support education and human resource development," he added.

He noted that the program bolsters Jakarta’s standing as a global city, as human capital development is a key metric in international innovation and education rankings.

"In the future, Jakarta must make its mark on the world stage. Expanding our international ties is a must," he explained.

He also urged the scholars to keep their eyes on the prize and strive for academic excellence to pave the way for a brighter future.

"Gratefully, the government has provided exceptional facilities. It is now up to the students to fuel their spirit and achieve even greater heights. Insya Allah (God willing), a brighter future lies ahead," he concluded.
