East Jakarta Social Sub-Agency and PMI Distribute Aid to Flood Victims

East Jakarta Social Sub-agency, in coordination with the East Jakarta Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), distributed aid to residents affected by flood on Friday (1/23).

"...we are providing assistance to help ease their burden,"

East Jakarta Social Agency Head Agata Bayu Putra said the assistance was provided following requests from local urban villages. In addition to food staples, ready-to-eat meals and bottled water were also distributed to affected residents in three different areas.

Transjakarta Service Adjustments Due to Flooding

"With flood still affecting the area, residents are unable to carry out their daily activities as usual, so we are providing assistance to help ease their burden," Agata said.

He explained that aid distributed to affected residents in Cipinang Muara included 300 five-kilogram bags of rice, 300 two-liter packs of cooking oil, 300 bottles of sweet soy sauce, 600 packs of biscuits, and 600 cans of sardines, 300 cartons of instant noodles, and 300 goodie bags.

All aid was handed over to the respective urban village administrations for further distribution to affected residents.

Agata added that ready-to-eat meals were also provided, with 1,565 meal boxes and 1,565 bottles of mineral water distributed in Rawa Terate Urban Village, 600 meal boxes and bottled water in Cipinang Melayu Urban Village, and 300 meal boxes in Halim Perdanakusuma Urban Village.

Meanwhile, East Jakarta PMI Public Relations and Communications Section Head Agus Bastian said his team also distributed bottled water and bread to help ease the burden on affected residents.

"Assistance for residents of RW 05, Rawa Terate Urban Village, included 50 cartons of bottled water and 2,000 pieces of bread," Bastian noted.

RW 05 Rawa Terate Treasurer Nurhasan expressed his appreciation to the East Jakarta Social Sub-agency and PMI for the assistance, noting that it was highly beneficial for residents affected by flood. He said floodwaters currently remain at around 35 centimeters.

"Floodwater remains, but it is less severe than yesterday, and some residents have started cleaning their homes," he said.
