Jakpro and Pertamina Gear Up to Build PLTG

Jakarta Provincial Government and PT Pertamina intend to build a gas-fueled power plant (PLTG) in two locations. The cooperation was marked with the signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU). 

Both will cooperate to build PLTG

PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) as Jakarta City-Owned Enterprises (BUMD) was appointed to cooperate with Pertamina in project of PLTG. "Both will cooperate to build PLTG," said Jakarta Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama, after the signing of memorandum of understanding in Pertamina office, Tuesday (7/14). 

Ahok claimed the PLTG is very required as Jakarta government keeps constructing the low-cost rental flats. Besides that, the groundbreaking of Light Rapid Transit (LRT) will also be started by the end of this year which needs electricity supply. 

Ahok Discussed Cooperation with US

"We will also build many flats and include for LRT necessity. In future, we need to get into gas and electricity fields," he expressed. 

Such project is located in in Marunda (North Jakarta) and Damar Island (Seribu Islands). Its implementation planned to be realized in 2016 with time prediction of project until 2 years by involving Japan. 

"Including Seribu Islands, we're encouraging to build PLTG for support tourism there. This land is very good for fishery and tour business," he uttered. 

Director of PT Pertamina Dwi Soetjipto disclosed his side is currently reviewing the investment and calculating the investment. 

"I think now it's the steps to determine the locations, then continued with its design. So far, the project will take 2-3 years. When MRT project and others done," he closed.
