Inundation in Pondok Bambu Recedes

The 60 cm inundation occurred at RW 03, 04, and 10 of Pondok Bambu Urban Village, Duren Sawit District, East Jakarta now recedes fully.

Deputy Head of Duren Sawit District, Andri Priwitama said the inundation at RW 03 and 04 was caused by the overflowing Sunter River. Meanwhile, at RW 10, it was triggered by the overflowing connecting channel on Jalan Gading.

"The flooding began at 6 AM. The water has now receded. However, PPSU personnel and the Blue Troops remain on standby at the location, as the weather remains cloudy," he said, Thursday (1/29).

Leo, a member of the Blue Troop from the Duren Sawit District Water Resources Implementation Unit, added that a floating pump was deployed to address the flooding on Jalan Taruna. Six Blue Troop personnel were also deployed to the location.

"We immediately operated the floating pump to suck up the puddles and now the condition has completely receded," he added.

Meanwhile, a member of the Village Consultative Body (LMK) RW 10, Pondok Bambu Urban Village, Heru Irianto Basuki said that sedimentation in the connecting channel and river also triggered the flooding.

"We hope that dredging can be carried out soon so that the capacity of the river and channels can be optimized," he stated.
