Efficiency, Street Lights must Have Electricity Meter

The payment of street lights in East Jakarta is deemed still very expensive. The reason is because most street lights have not been equipped with Kilowatt-Hour (kWh) or electricity meter.

“Thus far, around 700 out of 3,000 street lights panels were installed by electricity meter. One panel is available for 20-40 street lights,” said Head of East Jakarta Industry and Energy Sub-Department, Tuti Kurnia, Monday (8/3).

Theft Prevention, Street Lights Equipped by Electricity Meter

Kurnia acknowledged the use of electric power becomes not measurable and cause street lights malfunctioned. Nevertheless, the charge remains in effect.

To make it more efficient , Kurnia urged PT PLN to immediately install electricity meter. “Especially for street lights which located around residential, thus the payment can be more measureable,” she finished.
