Atas Banjir, Dinas Tata Air Siapkan Konsep Konservasi Air

Flood Anticipation, New Water Conservation Concept will Be Applied

Jakarta Water Management Department is about to change pattern of flood handling in the capital city with water conservation concept or zero run off through absorption well development.

In future, we'll apply zero run off, where the rainwater will be stored into the ground

Through the system, the flood from rain water will not be disposed and directed to the sea but stored in the well. Such rainwater planned to be used as raw water.

Water Management Dept. to Accelerate Dredging Work in City

In future, we'll apply zero run off, where the rainwater will be stored into the ground,” said Head of Jakarta Water Management Department, Tri Djoko Sri Margianto, Thursday (8/6).

Margianto conveyed if the concept is applied in a 80-hectare land of Monas Park, the well can accommodate water up to 1.6 million cubic per year. By so, it could be utilized as raw water in the region that needs water.

“The Monas’ park has a width of 80 hectares. The minimum rain in Jakarta reaches about 2-4 meters per year. Such 80-land is tantamount to 800 square meters. If it is stored in the well as deep as two meters, we could utilize 1.6 million meter cubic per year,” he explained.

He furthered, similar concept is planned also be applied in schools in South Jakarta by constructing some wells.

“The rainwater is harvested, instead of disposing it to city channels,” he said.

Margianto ensured the system is able to minimize flood and dryness matter well.
