Water Management Dept. to Accelerate Dredging Work in City

Jakarta Water Management Department is going to run massive dredging work of channel, river and reservoir simultaneously in 5 municipalities of Jakarta. Budget of Rp 3.1 trillion have been allocated to run this project.

The dredging work is scheduled from August to September

“The dredging work is scheduled from August to September,” said Head of Jakarta Water Management Department, Djoko Sri Margianto, Monday (8/3).

According to him, the total budget above is still used by 3 percent during six months. It means the department must accelerate the project as soon as possible.

Dredging Work of Rivers & Reservoirs Accelerated

"I promise to them to downgrade their position if the target is fail," he added.

The former Regent of Seribu Island admitted that he has showed the calculation schema to his subordinate regarding how to reach the target of budget absorption. Where in a day, the budget absorption budget of department and sub-department is targeted to reach Rp 17.4 billion.

Tri acknowledged to involve Infrastructures and Public Facilities Handling (PPSU) personnel in each Urban Village in handling and maintaining water channel, river and reservoir spread around the city.

“We divided the work pattern this year. We’ll handle dredging work of reservoir, river and macro channel. While PPSU personnel will tackle trash problem in very single points of urban village,” he disclosed.
