Jakarta Becomes Independent Province in Funding

Head of Jakarta Tax Service Department, Agus Bambang Setiowidodo stated that the city is the only one province in Indonesia which is independent in funding development.

We can feel it all, Jakarta developed or not depends on its citizens

"Jakarta does not receive any General Allocation Fund (DAU) or Special Allocation Fund (DAK) from central government. We're really independent region," expressed Setiowidodo.

He added, the City Administration relies on 14 kinds of incoming regional tax in local revenue (PAD) to fund development in the city.

PBB Revenue in Central Jakarta Only Reached 27.18 Percent

"Taxpayers' role is very important from all of tax kinds. We can feel it all, Jakarta developed or not depends on its citizens," he added.

He uttered, 2015 City Budget nominal which is stated in Gubernatorial Regulations (Pergub) amounted to Rp 69.28 trillion. As for regional tax contribution for City Budget from 14 kinds determined tax amounted to Rp 36.08 trillion or about 52.1 percent of City Budget.
