Here They Are Fire-Prone Areas in 5 Cities

Various ways to anticipate El Nino weather phenomenon in the capital keeps being intensified. One of them is by mapping fire-prone areas in five cities and intensifying socialization about fire anticipation in a densely populated area.

Electricity Short-circuit often occurs because of cheap cable

‎According to Abdul Chair, Head of Empowerment and Community Participation Division for Jakarta Fire Management and Rescue Department, there are five-prone areas in Central Jakarta. They are Tanah Tinggi, Galur, Kebon Kosong, Karang Anyar, Kebon Melati, Kebon Kacang, Jati Bunder and Kramat Sentiong.

Then in West Jakarta, they are Krendang, Kali Anyar, Jembatan Besi, Tambora, Duri Utara, Tangki, Jelambar Raya, Kota Bambu Selatan and Utara.

El Nino Anticipation, Densely Populated Area Monitored

"Palmerah Barat, Kapuk, Cengkareng, Semanan and Kalideres are also included in fire-prone areas," he told, Thursday (8/13).

‎In South Jakarta, he added, the fire-prone areas are spread in Manggarai Selatan, Bukit Duri Selatan, Pejaten Timur, Cipete Utara, Mampang Prapatan, Gandaria Utara, Kebayoran Lama Utara, Petukangan Utara dan Selatan, Karet Belakang, Grogol Utara and Pancoran.

"In North Jakarta, the fire-prone areas are located in Penjaringan, Kamal Muara, Kapuk Muara, Kali Baru, Cilincing, Sukapura, Warakas, Pademangan Barat, Kebon Bawang and Koja," he told.

Then in East Jakarta, Chair continued, some fire-prone areas are located at Kayu Manis, Jatinegara Barat, Lubang Buaya, Halim, Kampung Makasar, Kebon Pala, Kramatjati, Ciracas, Gedong, Kampung Tengah and Susukan.

"Those fire-prone areas can be anticipated through socialization, simulation, meeting, and counseling," he explained.

According to him, those fire-prone areas were classified in accordance with the number of case and residential condition ahat dominated by semi-permanent buildings. Thus far, the cause of fire is still dominated by electricity short-circuit.

"Electricity Short-circuit often occurs because of cheap cable, while its usage exceeds the capacity," he explained.
