El Nino Anticipation, Densely Populated Area Monitored

The El Nino weather phenomenon that affect the prolonged dry in some areas all over Indonesia could potentially trigger fire, including in Jakarta.

We do this, because the densely populated area is prone to El Nino

To anticipate it, Jakarta Fire Management and Rescue Department began to map fire-prone areas and improve Jakarta residents' role.

"The resident's role is very important to anticipate the El Nino. This is because there was one common thread severed," said Head of Empowerment and Community Participation (Partimas) for Jakarta Fire Management and Rescue Department, Thursday (13/8).

Fire Prevention, Fire Campaign in Schools Intensified

Chair explained that the mean of such common thread is the low socialization of Head of Fire Management and Rescue Department in sub-district to the resident.

"Supposedly, the socialization, counseling, and simulation through meeting of RT/RW, PKK, clinic, and school should be intensified. It aims to anticipate El Nino in the city," he explained.

He regretted the attitude of officials under Fire Management and Rescue Departments in five municipalities and one regency, because they are not able to push the Sector Head to intensify socialization and training to the public.

"This is the authority of Sub-Department Head," he expressed.

He furthered the department keeps monitoring the buildings in densely populated areas that dominated by semi-permanent houses.

"We do this, because the densely populated area is prone to El Nino," he uttered.
