The connecting channel (PHB) on Jl Mangga Besar 13 at RW 04, Mangga Dua Selatan, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta covered by trash.

Relaying on beritajakarta.com observation on Thursday (8/20), trash covered the channel with 3 meters width. Trash stuck under the bridge. The condition is getting worse by the black color of the water and spread foul-smelling.

Sugeng (49), one of residents, stated trash been piled up since last three months and there was no action by related parties to clean that up.

“Residents feel worry as many trash piled up. If it is neglected, riverwater can overflow to the roads,” he complaint.

Eventhough littering ban banner had been installed, but residents remain dismissive. Not only local residents who commonly disposing trash at night but also outsider residents.

Regarding the matter, Marsigit, Head of Central Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department gives no response but he pledged to check the location,” he disclosed.
