12 Parking Attendants Fired Due to Illegal Levies

Jakarta Transportation Department had fired 12 parking attendants who involved in conducting illegal levies (pungli).

From Jalan Sabang, we fired 4 people, 6 people from Jalan Boulevard Kelapa Gading and 2 people from Jalan Falatehan

"From Jalan Sabang, we fired 4 people, 6 people from Jalan Boulevard Kelapa Gading and 2 people from Jalan Falatehan," said Head of Parking Management Unit for Jakarta Transportation Department, Sunardi Sinaga, Monday (8/31).

Sinaga disclosed, currently the operators of Electronic Parking Terminal (TPE) on 3 parking on street locations, have made operational procedure standard (SOP) for parking attendants. On the SOP stated, those parking attendants who are caught conducting illegal levies will be fired.

"So now the operators made SOP. Those who are caught receiving money, will be fired. Likewise with those who don't work," he asserted.

According to him, all TPE parking attendants have been paid by provincial minimum wage (UMP), they are supposed to direct citizens to pay parking on electronic parking machine. Besides that, they are also assigned to check those riders who do not paying parking charge thus the local tax revenue (PAD) from parking transaction would be increased.

"If parking revenue increased, the salary will also be increased by two folds of UMP. Well the revenue is still low, so we only can pay them by once of UMP," he finished.
