Illegal Parking Prevention, City to Install ATPE in Glodok

Jakarta Transportation Department will install 10 units of Electronic Parking Terminal Equipment (ATPE) around Glodok Shopping Center, Taman Sari, West Jakarta to eradicate illegal parking in the area.

The ATPE installation is aimed to manage and eliminate illegal parking in some prone points

Based on beritajakarta.com observation, although the on street parking system was applied around Glodok area, there still many vehicles parked on the roadside causing traffic jam in the area.

Moreover, the illegal parking also seen around Pasar Pagi, Jalan Asemka, Jalan tambora, Jalan Pintu Kecil, and Jalan Pancoran.

Head of Jakarta Integrated Parking Services Unit, Sunardi Sinaga told, the 10 ATPE units will be installed on Jalan Pancoran, Toko tiga, Jalan Pintu Kecil, Glodok, and Pasar Pagi. 

 

"The ATPE installation is aimed to manage and eliminate illegal parking in some prone points," Sunardi explained, Thursday (3/26).

Sunardi hoped the ATPE installation could increase the regional income from parking sector that often taken by illegal parking attendants or thugs.

Sunardi continued, some parking attendants around Glodok will get guidance from Jakarta Integrated Parking Services Unit before they work.

"They will be employed as operators and guards who monitor the machine work. Besides that, we will also cooperate with police to prevent criminal action," he uttered.

Meanwhile, Dadang (42), one of illegal parking attendants in Glodok confessed pessimist by this APTE system because the lack of vacant land that can be used as parking lot in Glodok.

"The installation won't effective because lack of parking lot in Glodok," tol Dadang.
