“Indeed, most on-street parking locations are monopolized by mass organization. That’s why we’ll auction the 400 TPEs,” he said at City Hall, Monday (8/10).

Through TPE procurement, he predicted, there would be a conflict with mass organization.

“I had given warning yesterday in the launching of KNPI. Hence, the police and army will be involved to anticipate it,” he uttered.

He also offered double wages of provincial minimum wage (UMP) to parking officer. “They will be so glad, instead of their boss,” he expressed.

Since many parking site been monopolized, the target of local revenue is ever achieved. “Jalan Sabang for instance, we only absorbed Rp 500,000 last night, but it could be Rp 10-Rp 12 million if the TPE is installed. While the revenue in Kelapa Gading last night was Rp 1 million," he said.

According to Ahok, the potential of parking revenue in Jakarta can reach Rp 1.8 trillion. But so far, its amount only reached Rp 26 billion. "This means this is monopoly from mass organization by hundreds of billions, and we have to fight it," he concluded.
