85 Illegal Buildings in Taman Sari Demolished

Dozens of illegal buildings along Jalan Mangga Besar VII and IX, Tangki Urban Village, Taman Sari, West Jakarta were dismantled. The effort must be taken since the buildings stood atop the water channel and other public facilities.

Head of Taman Sari Sub-district, Paris Limbong, explained the location was initially used as street vendor guidance. Due to the permit is expired and does not extended, the area will be re-functioned.

"The guidance location has run for years," he said, Wednesday (9/9).

According to him, there were 85 illegal buildings dismantled. Most of the buildings were built semi-permanently.

"If the rain pours, the area is often flooded," he added.

As much as 100 joint personnel of Satpol PP, City Cleanliness Sub-dept., and PPSU were involved to control the buildings.

"The water channel will be dredged to smoothen the water flow," he disclosed.
