The poverty rate in Jakarta declined 0.16 percent in March 2015 compared to September 2014. Government's policy to tackle the poverty was considered successful.

City Head Statistic Center Bureau, Nyoto Widodo, admitted there were 398 thousand poor people in March 2015. The number is lower compared to September 2014 by 412 thousand people.
"The poverty line in March 2015 was Rp 487,388 per capita/month, or higher compared to September 2014 by Rp 459,560 per capita/month," he said, Tuesday (9/15).
City Optimistic to Decrease Poverty NumberHigh poverty line, Nyoto added, was caused by high price of staple foods such as rice. The number of poverty is influenced by poverty line number.
