Jakarta Wins 2 MDGs Awards

We won one trophy as the second winner at the past and two trophies as the first winner now

Jakarta Provincial Government won two awards of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Jakarta is predicated as the province with the largest and highest value compliance indicators.

The awards are symbolically presented by Indonesian President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) in front of hundreds regional heads in National Development Planning Meeting (Musrenbangnas) in Bidakara Hotel, South Jakarta, Wednesday (4/29).

Ahok seen immediately leave the venue after the opening ceremony of Musrenbangnas titled "Accelerating Infrastructure Development to Create Foundation for Quality Development". He claimed humbly that the award is for the previous governor who now becomes president. "The trophy was for Mr. President," he said.

Jakarta Development Planning Board (Bappeda) Head, Tuty Kusumawati added the role of Mr. Jokowi also important in the MDGs indicator assessment because he was serving as Jakarta Governor while the assessment took place from 2012-2014. "This is for assessment in 2012-2014, so Mr. Jokowi also gives important role because he was serving as Jakarta Governor at that time," she told.   

According to her, Jakarta received the two trophies because meets the highest number of any indicators. "There are seven main indicators. Such as poverty alleviation, maternal and child mortality reduction, education improvement, and women equality," he explained.

In overall, Kusumawati furthered, Jakarta received 3 trophies in the MDGs. "We won one trophy as the second winner at the past and two trophies as the first winner now," she disclosed.
