To boost local revenue (PAD), the City Administration is about to replace billboards with light emitting diode (LED). It is expected Jakarta could be as beautiful as Tokyo City.

Jakarta Governor, Basuki “Ahok” T Purnama dreams to create Jakarta alike Tokyo or New York at night. That is concerning there are many unfeasible billboards that can harm resident and ruin city scenery.

“ I am dreaming about beautiful Jakarta at night just like in Tokyo or New York ,” he said, at City Hall, Monday (9/28).

According to him, LED can save electricity. Nevertheless, his party still difficulties to ask building owners to install LED due to expensive tax. Hence, its tax rate would be revised.

“They (building owner) refuse to install LED due to expensive tax,” he expressed.

In conjunction with the matter, he considered, there are still many parties cheating on him about billboard tax and cause local revenue does not the right on the target. “I still find cheating here, hard to detect billboard tax offender,” he uttered.

In the near future, the advertising tax through LED will be applied by sharing profit with a ratio of 70:30, with details City Administration 30% and entrepreneur 70%. “So, there will no longer arguing about strategic value,” he asserted.
