Base of App-Based Ojek Driver in Kebayoran Baru Hard to Be Controlled

App-based ojek (motorcycle taxi) driver who wait passengers on sidewalk and roadside in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, are hard to be controlled. 

Their excuse is they have been legalized by government. So, we have no athority to crack down on them, we just drive them away

Kebayoran Baru Sub-District Head, Edy Suherman stated his side had held a raid in some locations. But some of them protested when being driven away. 

"Their excuse is they have been legalized by government. So, we have no authority to crack down on them, we just drive them away," he stated, Wednesday (9/30). 

Online Ojek Used Sidewalk as Their Base

Even, he continued, they proposed us to facilitate and protect them. "They said they can't operate for 12 hours, so they need a place to take a break," he continued. 

However, he instructed the sub-district's Satpol PP to prevent sidewalk, park and roadside in his area being occupied by them. 

"Such as on Jalan Cipaku nearby Santa Market, there are hundreds of ojek drivers evicted, and in Taman Tumbuh Kembang Jalan Pakubuwono," he disclosed.
