Basuki Remains Choose ERP

Jakarta Governor, Basuki T. Purnama (Ahok), prefers to implement Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) rather than odd and even. In fact, he does not know when it will be implemented. Seeing from other countries who apply the odd and even, none of them run well to overcome traffic.

Odd and even in Manila is fail. I think ERP is better

"Odd and even in Manila is fail. I think ERP is better," he said, Wednesday (10/1).

According to him, ERP should be implemented this year, but he is still waiting report from Jakarta Head Dept. of Transportation, Andri Yansyah.

"I don't know the matter, the report has not come to me," he added.

ERP had been trialed in Jakarta. Two roads have been installed with ERP gate on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman and JL HR Rasuna Said. The gates were installed by Kapsch (Sweden) and Q-Free (Norway).

The first trial was done in July 2014 on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman in front of Panin Bank Building, and second trial was in September 2014 on Jalan HR Rasuna Said, Kuningan, South Jakarta.

Based on the trial, the devices were able to record license plat of the vehicle. Later on, only vehicle with on board unit (OBU) is able to pass the ERP gate.
