Counseling Center of Rural's Conservation (SPKP) of Starfish, is planting 75,000 mangroves on the south coast of Kelapa Dua Island, North Seribu Islands.
Mangroves are useful to protect the island from abrasion, sea water intrusion and wind, and also for the breed of sea biota
"Mangroves are useful to protect the island from abrasion, sea water intrusion and wind, and also for the breed of sea biota," said Head of Starfish SPKP, Iskandar Rachman, Wednesday (10/7).
Rachman voiced the rehabilitation and conservation of mangroves could be done through citizen’s empowerment approach economically and socially.
Mangrove Planting Focused on Pramuka Island"Not only planting, citizens are also taught seeding way that could make more profit," he disclosed.
Based on the data of Seribu Islands National Sea Park, there are currently about 670 thousands mangroves in Kelapa Island.
