Kota Tua Festival This October 2015, Be There!

West Jakarta Administration is going to kick off 2015 Kota Tua Festival, which falls on October 28-29, 2015. This annual event is one of strategies to promote Kota Tua tour and preserve Betawian culture.

We choose Jl Cengkeh in order to introduce the event to residents as a parking lot and a culinary site

 

According to Imron, Head of West Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department, the festival will take place in parking area of Jl Cengkeh.

“We choose Jl Cengkeh in order to introduce the event to residents as a parking lot and a culinary site,” he said, Monday (10/26).

 

He explained, it is held with theme “Seven Charms”. "It is expected to attract more visitors in Kota Tua,” he expressed.

 

On the other hand, Wawan Hermawan, Section Head of Attraction for West Jakarta Tourism and Culture Sub-Department added that a number of Betawi arts and cultures entertainments will color such festival, ranging from such as gambang kromong (music ensembel), ondel-ondel, marawis (traditional Islamic music), palang pintu (a door-bolting tradition) and many more.

 

“The festival will be opened with parody drama musical of Nandak Geprak (dance and comedy) stared by popular comedian, Azis Gagap, Mpok Tonah and Jaya Noin.
