City Prepares 75,000 Tons of Rice Stock

Jakarta Provincial Government is requesting for 75,000 tons of rice stock to State Logistics Agency (Bulog) Drive Jakarta-Banten. The amount of rice is prepared as anticipation of El Nino phenomenon that predicted to be long.

Director of PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya, Arief Prasetyo Adi stated that the request has been proposed to Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama. Eventually, he said, the governor is the one who will sent the request letter to Bulog.

"It's as anticipation. We propose 75,000 tons of rice for period November-March," he said, at City Hall, Tuesday (10/27).

He uttered with the amount of rice, the government already have sufficient rice stock for facing dry season.

"Bulog has stock up to 1.5-1.7 million tons of rice. They also already have partition for regions," he explained.

He asserted that for now rice stock in the capital is still safe. In Pasar Induk Cipinang, the available stock reaches 33,000 tons. While every day, rice supply still keeps flowing amounted to 3,000-4000 tons.

"As for ourselves as the main indicator still have stock 33,000 tons of rice. It's in-out 2,300-3,000 tons per day," he stated.
