West Flood Canal in Tanah Abang Shallowing

West Flood Canal (KBB) which is located in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta is still shallowing. Even many residents use the sediment that being land or delta on the canal flow to do activities.

"It should be dredged again as many of the sediment becomes land. The river was so deep so that there is no people dare to get in, now it's shallowing," complained Achmad (36) a local, Thursday (11/5).

Beritajakarta.com observation, a number of residents use the delta to do herding goats and some other activities. The soil material that has not been dredged for long makes residents easily get into the location.

Head of Jakarta Water Management Department, Tri Djoko Sri Margianto, the authority of the canal dredging is on Public Works and People Housing Ministry, through  Ciliwung-Cisadane Flood Control Office (BBWSCC).

"We will send the letter as soon as possible, the river needs dredging indeed," he told.
