Sooner or later, a dragon boat festival will enliven the West Flood Canal (KBB), Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta. It aims to attract more tourist.

“We had reviewed the site (West Flood Canal). The canal is quite large. Moreover, there is a sluice gate that can set the water level,” said Head of Central Jakarta Sports and Youth Sub-Department, Edward Situmeang, Monday (4/20).

Situmeang stated the dragon boat festival is only exist in North Jakarta and East Flood Canal (KBT), East Jakarta. Whereas, similar festival could also be held in the KBB because the place is very supportive

“Besides that, we can also invite local people to clean up the river,” he uttered.

Such festival was budgeted from 2016 City Budget (APBD). Each sub-district in Central Jakarta will get one dragon boat.

“Hopefully, the festival could produce outstanding young athletes. You know what, the boat had been competed in National Games (PON) and Olympiad,” he uttered.
