Flood in Kampung Pulo Began to Drown Out

Although it is not yet finish, the Ciliwung River normalization seemed managed to minimize floodwater that is frequently inundating Kampung Pulo area, Kampung Melayu, East Jakarta.

Evidently, when the Ciliwu ng River overflowed, Monday (11/9), the water only inundates dozens houses in RW 03, Kampung Melayu. Whereas, prior to normalization, almost all areas are inundated.

Normalization of Ciliwung River Runs Well

Awi, (50), one of Kampung Pulo citizens stated around 5-11.30 AM, the water level was still 20-30 cm. This is because water channel clogged by waste from Ciliwung inspection road project.

“The water quickly receded yet its color is so dirty and strewn with waste. We hope normalization project could be expedited thus the soil does not cover channel anymore,” told Awi, Monday (11/9).

Head of Jatinegara Sub-District, Budi Setiawan conveyed sooner or later, the Ciliwung-Cisadane Flood Control Office (BBWSCC) will fix the clogged water channel while waiting normalization project done.
