Flood Heights in Jakarta Predicted to Decrease in 2016

Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) predicted puddle height in a number areas in capital will decrease in the peak of rainy season in upcoming 2016.

Data from Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency, the highest peak of water level in last 2007 reached 8 meters and keep decreasing until it stable into 4 meters in 2013 and 2014 and continues to decrease in 2015 become 3 meters.

“Whereas many preparations to anticipate flood has been prepared by Water Management. So, it will decrease for sure,” said Deni Wahyu Heriyanto, Jakarta BPBD’s Head Operation, Thursday (11/19).

Haeriyanto uttered the highest peak of water level in 2013 and 2014 reached 4 meters hit Kampung Pulo, Kampung Melayu. While this year, the highest peak of water level hit Jati Padang, Pasar Minggu reached up to 3 meters.

“In addition, after sheet pile and higher levee construction in Kampung Pulo is completely built in December. We’ve prepared rubber boat for 125 urban villages,” he expressed.
