Ribuan PKL Padati Bantaran KBT

Street Vendors Rampant Along KBT

Along East Flood Canal bank, East Jakarta is crowded again by thousands of street vendors. Everyday, they open their stall starting at 6 PM until 12 AM.

The controlling had ever been held but the result was not maximal. Because they will still get back

Whereas, formerly the bank was used to simplify officers maintaining the canal and it should be sterilized from vehicles and street vendors. In fact, the location is misused. As a result, along the inspection road starting from Cipinang Besar Selatan (CBS) Bridge until Pondok Kopi is crowded by them.

Head of East Jakarta Satpol PP, Hartono acknowledged street vendors along the road are getting more. But his side cannot control them yet as there is still no permanent solution for relocating them.

"The controlling had ever been held but the result was not maximal. Because they will still get back. It's because there's still no solution to handle it. We finally just control them as the best we can do," he expressed, Thursday (11/26).

According to him, the controlling will only make another problem. Data from Satpol PP recorded there are about 1,200 street vendors.
