MRT Construction as Pilot Project For Other Cities

Indonesian President, Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo revealed, the successful development of Mass Rapid Trans (MRT) in Jakarta, its implementation will become an example for other big cities in Indonesia.

Hence, he continued, although MRT construction is the responsibility of Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, but he still monitor the development process.

"Because I want MRT becomes an example for other big cities all over Indonesia which want to develop subway," he expressed, Wednesday (12/23).

PT MRT Required to Provide Parking Area in Each Station

He continued, besides subway, big cities also have developed public transportation system. Palembang for instance, they are currently focused on LRT development and Surabaya focused on Trem.

"Due to lack of land, they will develop subway, considering a city needs mass transportation," he stated.

Meanwhile, PT MRT Director, Dono Boestomi added, the current tunnel work from Patung Pemuda, Jalan Sisingamangraja, has reached Senayan at Jalan Sudirman, as long as 327 meters.

"The entire project is conducted by Indonesian workers, and expert from Japan as supervisor," he uttered
