Tanah Abang, Never Ending Chaotic

Pasar Tanah Abang area, Central Jakarta is still chaotic because of street vendor and traffic jam. Central Jakarta Administration’s effort to manage the area seems useless.

We have to improve the spatial planning to overcome this matter

Hidayatullah, Tanah Abang Sub-district Head, appraised that the chaotic Tanah Abang is caused by failed city spatial planning.

“Talking about illegal parking, there is space at 8th floor of Blok A. But it’s too far. No one will go there. And finally, illegal parking is the only option,” he said, Tuesday (1/19).

Street Vendors on Jalan Sabeni Controlled

Besides illegal parking, street vendor selling on the roadside is still becoming the main problem. Those who selling on the roadside are vendors from Blok A and Blok B. Their kiosk inside the market is used as a warehouse.

He admitted has coordinated with PT Sarana Jaya and Pembangunan Jaya as the developer to accelerate the connecting bridge from Blok B to Tanah Abang Station and stores.

“We have to improve the spatial planning to overcome this matter,” he stated.
