Trashes Piling 5-Meter High, Kalianyar Residents Complained

The existence of waste disposal site (TPS) at RT 09/06, Kalianyar Urban Village, Tambora Sub-District, West Jakarta, is complained by local residents. Besides causing rotten smell, the TPS also produced trash pile as high as five meters which eventually scattered onto the street.

The TPS is not too wide, thus trashes are piling for almost five meters high and scattering onto the street

The TPS is not too wide, thus trashes are piling for almost five meters high and scattering onto the street,” said Yayat (53), a local, Tuesday (4/8).

Post-Flood, 91,529 Tons of Waste Transported

According to him, the trashes in the TPS are not only dumped by Kalianyar Urban Village, but also dumped by residents living in Jembatan Besi and Duri Utara urban villages. Because of that, West Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department operated four dump trucks to transport the trashes from the TPS every day.

But since two years ago, only two dump trucks operated. That is why trashes are piling high. Ironically, though residents have filed complaints to local Cleanliness Sub-Department, there has been no respond until now.

“The trash pile is very annoying us and pedestrians. Therefore, we ask related unit to clean it up immediately,” asserted Yayat.

Kalianyar Urban Village Head, Dodo, admitted that his party has repeatedly reported this matter to West Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department. But until now, the complaints are never responded.

“The existence of trashes in that TPS is worrying. If it was not handled immediately, it will become a den of diseases,” he stated.

When beritajakarta.com tried to contact Head of West Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department, Wahyu Pudjiastuti, for confirmation, the official’s cell phone was inactive.
