It depends on the DNA test result. The baby and her mother are conducting DNA test at Police Hospital, while the woman who confesses as the baby’s grandmother is also going to be examined for her DNA
Head of Penjaringan Metro Police, Comr Andri Ananta Yudhistira explained that this decision to hand over the baby that was born in Indramayu, January 12, 2013 to Kemensos is based on discussion with Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI).
Based on the discussion, both the police and KPAI have thought four choices of the infant’s fate. The first choice is to hand over the baby to the police, the second is to leave the baby to her grandmother, the third is to leave the baby to the biological mother, or the last choice is to hand over the baby to the ministry.
“It depends on the DNA test result. The baby and her mother are conducting DNA test at Police Hospital, while the woman who confesses as the baby’s grandmother is also going to be examined for
her DNA,” explained Yudhistira, Thursday (4/10).Previously reported, two days ago, the perpetrator throwing the poor baby has been arrested without resistance on Jalan Utan Kayu area, East Jakarta "His initial is T (30), and he is not the father of the baby. Until now we are still investigating the motive," Yudhistira added.
Meanwhile, KPAI Secretary Erlinda suspected whether there is cooperation between the perpetrator with the baby’s mother, initialed D aka S, to get rid the baby.
According to her, from D confession, she stated that she never leave her baby intentionally. “But there is a possibility of cooperation between the mother and the perpetrator. It is all still under investigation by the police, however. If the mother is proven to be the main perpetrator, then the baby will be handed over to the ministry or transferred to RSPA owned by the ministry,” explained Erlinda.
She also appealed to all Indonesia citizens in order not to throw the children which they did not expected before. "Throwing the baby is exposed to the Child Protection Act article 77 with a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison," she stated.
To reduce the number of child abandonment case, KPAI has launched a goes to campus program to provide parenting to schools by collaborating with an actor, Rio Dewanto. In addition to that, KPAI will propose to maximize the punishment of any perpetrator of this incident. "It was done to give a deterrent effect to the perpetrators," she concluded.
