No Doctor, Seribu Islands RSUD Patients Asked to Return Home

The existence of General Hospital (RSUD) in Pramuka Island, Seribu Islands Regency, does not give guarantee of good healthcare services to surrounding residents. Evidently, the residents who wanted to get medical treatment were neglected because there were no doctors.

I have been ill since yesterday, but I came here (Seribu Islands RSUD) just around 10 AM. The nurse said that there were no doctors and I was told to come back tomorrow

Rohayati (20), resident of RT 01/04, Panggang Island Urban Village, Seribu Utara Islands, admitted that she had to return home because there were no doctors on call at the hospital. She went there to treat her swollen breasts.

Related to that, Head of Seribu Islands Health Sub-Department, Nyoman Suhartanu, said that his party has responded the matter by sending doctors to the hospital.

“We received reports and we have dealt it. I have sent a doctor from the community health center (puskesmas) to serve patients in the hospital,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Head of Seribu Islands RSUD, Muhammad Helmi, claimed that this is only miscommunication with the patients. According to him, it is not the absence of doctors on call in the hospital, but only the general polyclinic is closed.

“Our policy is that general polyclinic is closed at holidays. But other services, such as medical care and emergency service, remain open. From the information I received, the condition of the patients was not too serious,” he uttered.
