Residents Protested Dozens of Trees Trimmed to the Ground
Maskur (40), RT 08/05 Kedoya Selatan resident whose back of the house struck down by a big tree limb splinter, said that if the tree was trimmed, its limb will not fall and strike his house down.
“In our region, there are hundreds of trees, including those on the riverside which have grown big and tall. For dozens of years, those trees have never been cut by the officers. If they were left to grow bigger, those trees are very prone to struck my house as well as the houses of other residents,” he uttered, Monday (4/21).
Maskur also disclosed that the related unit seems not care enough by the fact that many residents’ houses got struck down by tree splinters, including to responsible and give compensation on the damaged residents’ houses.
“Related unit should have cared by gibing compensation. But in reality, we repair the damages ourselves. To prevent such incident from happening again, we ask the limbs of those hundreds of trees to be trimmed immediately,” he asserted.
Meanwhile, Head of Kedoya Selatan Urban Village, Sylviana Nuraini, admitted that the impact of heavy rain accompanied by stong wind has caused five houses struck down by tree splinters and more than 100 asbestos roofs of resident houses flew by the whirlwind. Because of that, she will write a letter to West Jakarta Park Sub-Department to trim the limb trees immediately.
“Besides unsettling the residents since they grow leafy, many of those tree limbs fall into the river and cause the river flow unsteady,” she told.
Responding this matter, Head of West Jakarta Park Sub-Department, Kadirun, uttered that his party is currently recording the data of fallen trees and the regions that are prone to fallen and collapsed trees.
“We are still recording data. For RW 05 Kedoya Selatan, we will check the area and conduct trimming immediately,” he stated.
