Heavy Rain and Strong Wind, Tree Branches Fell

Heavy rain and strong wind happened in West Jakarta this afternoon, Saturday (4/19), have caused some tree branches fell. Luckily, the incident does not cause casualties, but quite long traffic congestion is inevitable.

On Jalan S Parman, precisely on the left side of Slipi towards Grogol, right in front of Citraland Bus Stop, the branch of a 10-meter tall angsana tree fell. Similar thing also happened on Jalan Lapangan Bola, Kebon Jeruk, where the branch of a sugar palm tree fell and until it covered the road lane from Kebon Jeruk towards Kembangan. In addition, the branch of an acacia tree near Kebon Jeruk Toll Gate also fell until it caused long traffic congestion around the location.

Responding this matter, Head of Green Lanes Section for West Jakarta Parks Sub-Department, Kadirun, told that his party already knew about the incident of broken trees. “The trees do not collapse, only their branches fell. We’re still recording the data,” he stated.

To evacuate those tree branches, Kadirun told that his party is helped by officers from local Satpol PP as well as Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department. “Besides broken trees, there is also an ad board collapsed near Puri Kembangan traffic lights. I don’t know the size, because I’m still waiting for the report. The collapsed board is currently under evacuation process,” he uttered.
