Jakarta Vice Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidayat uttered his side will study building construction moratorium in order to prevent more land subsidence.

According to the data, land subsidence in Jakarta reached 9-12 cm per year.

“Land subsidence in Jakarta is 9-12 cm per year. Moratorium for big building construction especially mall should be reviewed. Too many malls here in Jakarta,” he said, Thursday (4/28).

While waiting the moratorium, his side will try to add more open space. Another way is tightening the worthiness certificate of the building.

“Area to store water should be provided as well as monitoring the groundwater usage,” he added.
