City Gives BPJS Cards to 5,800 Social Institution Inhabitants

As many as 5,800 inhabitants of social institutions spread in 27 locations in Jakarta received Social Security Provider (BPJS) cards from Jakarta Provincial Government. With their BPJS card, all social institution inhabitants can get free treatment in community health center (puskesmas). And if their illness bad enough, they can be referred to the nearest hospital. All costs are covered by Jakarta Provincial Government.

Head of Jakarta Social Department, Masrokhan, said that actually from 27 social institutions in Jakarta, the total inhabitants are 5,872 people. But due to incomplete administration requirements, only 5,800 social institution inhabitants received the BPJS cards, while the rest will be given at the longest a week from now.

Besides general doctor, there will be also psychiatrist visiting Laras Nursing House, the place for people with mental disorder. There are four Laras Nursing Houses with a total of 2,231 inhabitants. In details, 737 inhabitants in Laras Nursing House 1, 656 inhabitants in Laras Nursing House 2, 441 inhabitants in Laras Nursing House 3, and 397 inhabitants in Laras Nursing House 4.
“We have requested Jakarta Health Department to differentiate the treatment for inhabitants in this nursing house. Since they are under rehabilitation program, the doctor will visit the nursing house. If we took them out, it will be troublesome. Bringing people with mental disorder out of the nursing house has many constrains,” he uttered.
Meanwhile, Head of Health Problem Control Division for Jakarta Health Department, John Marbun, stressed that BPJS card holders from social institutions will receive the same treatment because they have the same rights in a matter of healthcare services.
“For social institution inhabitants, while they are holding BPJS card and live in social institution, their medical treatment costs will be covered. But when they got out the institution, their medical treatment costs will only be covered for three months,” he informed.
About medicines that are not provided in the institution’s polyclinic and not covered by BPJS, Marbun told that he will propose to Health Ministry to provide those medicines, such as antidepressant for people with mental disorder. As for the types of medicines covered by BPJS, the amount has reached 70 percent.
Farida (60), one of Tresna Werda Budi Mulia Social Institution inhabitants from Jember, East Java, admitted happy of getting attention from Jakarta Provincial Government through BPJS card handout. Farida has been living in Tresna Werda Budi Mulia Social Institution since 1.5 years ago after caught in the raid against people with social welfare problems (PMKS) held by Satpol PP. Her husband and only child have passed away since long ago.
“I suffered diabetics. That’s why I’m happy with this BPJS card because my medical treatment costs are covered by Jakarta Provincial Government. I’m also happy living in this social institution, because I am well-treated by the officers,” she expressed.
