Fire gutted four rented houses in Kampung Bahari, Gang 5, RT 08/03, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, Friday (4/25). The blaze was triggered by stove explosion.

Based on the information gathered, fire was first seen in a rented house No. 99 owned by Zaenudin (58), at around 10.30 AM. But before that, explosion sound was heard from the house.
“I immediately took a hose from my house. But because the fire kept growing up, we, the residents could not do much. We also afraid to go inside the (burned) house, because we heard the sound of an explosion when we tried to extinguish the fire,” uttered Darpan Asmad Darmanto (55), an eyewitness.

“House owner’s wife, Mrs. Ida, sells nasi uduk (savory rice cooked in coconut and served with several side dishes) on the bridge. As far as I know, the cook is her husband,” told Darmanto.
Meanwhile, North Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department picket officer, Putut Jantoko, informed there is no casualty reported in this incident. To put out the blaze, 10 fire trucks and 5 supporting cars were sent to the scene.
“The firemen had troubled by the narrow access road. However, they were helped by the existence of a connecting channel (PHB) behind the fire location.
The fire was finally extinguished within an hour. The loss is predicted reaching Rp 100 million ,” he uttered.
