Jakarta Governor, Basuki T Purnama acknowledged his party still gets complaint about many RT/RW apparatuses who conduct illegal levies. Even some of them use public and social facilities in their respective environments.

"There are still many RT/RW apparatuses that do illegal levies. I get the complaint today where the actor would give the permission, as long as the person gives money. This is not funny," he stated, at City Hall, Monday (5/30).

He disclosed some locations that prone to illegal levies action are still being cleaned, such as street vendor stalls, illegal parking, etc. He also cited some RT/RW apparatuses in West Jakarta ask for money by Rp 1 million from street vendor. They are supposed to serve the residents.

"Many of them just want money instantly through parking lot, stall, recommendation letter, land sale, business permit where the businessman must pay Rp 1 million to get it. This is not the fact," he expressed.

Basuki went on the say that how RT/RW can be formed in Indonesia. In Japanese government's era, they formed RT/RW for monitoring people who enter-exit the region. Then in Orde Baru (Note on the Failure of New Order-Politics), they still used to monitor the people.

"And now its function is better, instead of asking for money. If you feel qlue is bad application, I want to ask, how you to make a report?," he stated.
