24,000 Cantang Grouper Seeds Distributed to Fish Farmers on Kelapa IslandHead of the Jakarta KPKP Agency's PBKL Unit, Andi Dala Jemma, said the fish seed assistance is a key strategy to improve community welfare, particularly in island areas.
"Through fish farming, communities gain a sustainable food source and an alternative income when fishing activities are disrupted by weather," shared Andi on Tuesday (2/10).
He added that throughout 2025, PBKL distributed a total of 143,575 food fish seed to 77 recipient groups such as fish farmer groups (pokdakan), community hatchery units (UPR), and schools, including those in the Thousand Islands.
"This year, our target is 200,000 food seed for consumption. In early February, we distributed 1,000 pomfret fry measuring seven to eight centimeters to the Sea Farming group on Panggang Island," he explained.

According to Andi, the fish seed distribution is expected to boost fish production in the Thousand Islands and support an independent, sustainable food supply for local communities.
"The fry provided are expected to be farmed optimally, both to meet household consumption needs and as a source of income," he added.
Meanwhile, Ali (51), a representative of the Sea Farming group on Panggang Island, expressed appreciation for the support from Jakarta KPKP Agency's PBKL, saying the assistance has been crucial for developing the group's fish farming business.
"This program is very beneficial for us. We hope it will continue and reach more fish farming groups in the future," he said.
