Yellow Squad Repairs Vital Jakarta-Bekasi Artery

The East Jakarta Public Works Sub-agency (Bina Marga)'s "Yellow Squad" has conducted an emergency repair on a sunken road section at the Sunter River Bridge on Jalan Kampung Kramat, Cipayung.

East Jakarta Public Works Sub-agency Head, Benhard Hutajulu stated that the repair is a temporary measure to ensure the safety and comfort of commuters. The road subsidence, which reached a depth of 20 to 30 centimeters, was deemed a significant hazard to motorists.

"For this temporary fix, we're patching the sunken areas using a combination of cold-mix and hot-mix asphalt," he expressed, Thursday (2/26).

Due to the significant depth of the damage, He explained, the repair began with stone-filling to reinforce the foundation before being sealed with layers of cold-mix and hot-mix asphalt.

"This measure is expected to bolster both the safety and comfort of all commuters," he explained.

To tackle the project, those personnel were deployed to the site. Beyond the patchwork, they have also put up warning signs for drivers.

Besides the physical repairs, he noted that personnel have installed warning banners, urging motorists to exercise extra caution while traversing the area.

"This is particularly critical as the concrete bridge railings on both sides have also subsided as a direct result of the road's sinking," he explained.

This work received appreciation from one of the motorists, Mudzaki (42).

"My big thank you to them for fixing the subsidence. Hope the motorists can now travel with greater peace of mind," he explained.

The road is widely recognized as a crucial bypass, offering the quickest shortcut for commuters traveling between West Java's Bekasi Regency and East Jakarta’s Cipayung Sub-district.

"This is a heavily traversed route. It is a primary gateway for people moving between Jakarta and Bekasi every day," he pointed out.
