Arifin Leads Supervision of Takjil Food in Bendungan Hilir

The Central Jakarta Mayor, Arifin, together with the Head of the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BBPOM) in Jakarta, Sofiyani Chandrawati Anwar, conducted food supervision at the Takjil Center at the RW 01 Bendungan Hilir Police Post, Tanah Abang, Thursday (2/26).

The supervision will also be held in Kemayoran and others

Arifin said, this supervision is to ensure that all food sold is safe and healthy for buyers to consume.

He explained that the integrated team took several samples of takjil (breakfast snacks) for testing in the BBPOM laboratory car.

"The supervision will also be held in Kemayoran and others," he explained.

Head of BBPOM in Jakarta, Sofiyani Chandrawati Anwar stated a laboratory test was conducted on 27 samples of takjil sold by vendors. One sample of the snack was found to contain the textile dye Rhodamine B.

"We have taken food containing hazardous substances so that they are no longer sold to residents and educated traders who sell these foods," she stated.

According to Sofiyani, vendors' awareness of the need to avoid selling takjil containing hazardous substances has increased.

Last year, approximately 4.1 percent of tested takjil samples contained hazardous substances. This year, the percentage of takjil containing hazardous substances is only around two percent.

"We also actively educate residents about choosing foods that don't contain harmful substances. For example, foods that use textile dyes will be shinier and won't fade," she explained.
